TELL PRESIDENT BACOW: ESSENTIAL WORKERS AT HARVARD UNIVERSITY DESERVE JOB STABILITY!
32BJ SEIU contracted janitors and security officers have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. They’ve risked their health and the health of their families to keep our community safe and clean. Now these same essential workers face potential layoffs! In November, Harvard University announced they will no longer extend their pandemic pay policy to cover contracted workers starting on January 15th and they haven't changed course.
We need to make it clear to Harvard University that they have a moral responsibility to protect and sustain the livelihood of essential workers who are the backbone of our workforce. As one of the wealthiest institutions in the world with an endowment of over $41 billion dollars, Harvard University has no excuse but to stand by their workers in a meaningful way.
We know that our strength lies in our unity, so lets speak with one voice and tell President Larry Bacow that Harvard needs to ensure the safety and economic stability of its workers, especially in the midst of a deadly pandemic. We need decisive action to protect our essential workers who have dedicated many years of their lives to this institution.
